ICS Opens Indian Software Development Centre
18/03/2005
ICS Computing, Northern Ireland’s largest indigenous software company has opened a software development centre in Chennai in India. The centre based in India’s South Eastern Hi-tech region will initially focus on software development for both ICS’s DTX Accounting Suite and the uniPims Payroll and HR products. Gordon Ireland, the newly appointed director of, ICS’s Indian operation explains, “ The logic to set up in India was compelling. We operate in the highly competitive market of software products and services, and our success and growth depends upon continual investment. The Indian dimension has allowed us to scale up our investment in key products considerably, such as our DTX Accounting Suite and our uniPims HR & Payroll Products, without a proportionate increase in our costs.”

ICS - Prepared to Invest
14/07/2004
In May 2004, ICS met the requirements of the Investors in People (IIP) National Standard and was recognised as an Investor in People. The decision was made by Ann Clarke, Assessor from IIP and confirmed by a panel of judges who she presented to on completion of our second assessment.
In short, Ann reported that we were able to demonstrate a strong commitment to ‘developing’ people. Traditionally, people associated ‘development’ with formal classroom style training, however, through evaluation, it is becoming more apparent that this style of training is quite often the least effective form of development. Most trainees will remember or relate to only 20% of a formal classroom session with even less of the learning actually being applied. Therefore, it is important to note that ‘development’ covers a wide range of activities such as on job training, meetings, one to one mentoring, coaching, task teams, self study, etc.
